Eden Hazard's younger brother, Thorgan, has been stripped of the club's captaincy after being appointed to the position just 24 hours ago. The appointment of the Chelsea loanee to Belgian club Sportvereniging Zulte Warengem's captaincy yesterday raised a few eyebrows. The club's fans were unhappy with the development because he is not a full player of the club. Chelsea still pays his wages and at the end of the season he will pack his bags and return to Stamford Bridge. The club's management has seemingly bowed to pressure from the fans and they've handed the armband back to 32-year-old Davy de Fauw who was club captain for the 2012-13 season.
Hazard Jnr. was made the club captain on the heels of an impressive personal and club campaign last season which saw him make 28 appearances in all competitions, including qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League. With Hazard's assistance, Zulte Warengem mounted a surprise challenge for the Belgian Pro League trophy, but they lost out to Anderlecht on the final day of the season. Thorgan, 20, was signed by Chelsea from Lens the same year his elder brother, Eden, was captured. He is yet to make an official appearance for Chelsea.
