Chelsea's Sexy New Away Kit

Written By Unknown on Monday, 22 July 2013 | 13:59

The Blues unveiled their brand-new all-white away kit for the 2013-14 season earlier on in June with the "It's Not White, It's Blue" promotion campaign. But very few Chelsea fans knew exactly what it was like, until yesterday in Kuala Lumpur. The Europa League champions flaunted the new white jerseys in their 4-1 win over the Malaysian XI and it was only then that most Blues fans were able to catch a glimpse of what that kit really  looks like. Many assessed it and said that it was nice. At least it is an improvement upon a similar white kit that Chelsea wore in some of their away fixtures last season.

This time around Chelsea's kit makers, Adidas (with whom Chelsea signed a record-breaking £300million 10-year contract with last month), have added a little spark to the white kit by making it look "whiter" and "cleaner", as well as removing the light blue stripe that ran from the top left to the lower right of the previous one. Red trims will now appear in the new jersey for the first time in two years, along with the traditional blue ones. The old deep-blue socks that many fans disapproved of last season has been ditched in favour of lighter ones.

Improvements have also been made in the areas of moisture and heat control with Adidas introducing the ClimaCool™ technology that uses 3D fabrics to enhance air flow and ventilation. That way you won't see players running around the pitch in soaked jerseys with underarm sweat stains on their shirts. The new kit is the latest Adidas would be making for Chelsea since its partnership with the club began in 2006. Samsung - Chelsea's primary sponsors - will retain their logo on the new shirt. This new kit is similar to the bright white kits Chelsea players adorned in the 1960s.

The beauty of this new away kit is in its simplicity. Chelsea and Adidas have finally decided to do away with the complicated and over-designed kits in recent past, making way for simpler, neater and sexier ones that are more appealing to the eyes. And I pray that the new kits will be able to help us win all our away matches next season. Did Adidas add that technology too? Well from what we played yesterday it looks like.
